Welcome to the
NEW NFF Stables!

Actually, we’ve been around a long while, but decided it was time we admitted that our business has grown and changed in such a positive way, that the name “Nothing Fancy Farm” no longer fit us.
We still state that even though our horses and our facility are quite fancy, our attitude is not; however, we realized that we’ve come a long way from being run out of a back yard, and our name should reflect who we have become and where we are going.

Meet our Staff:
Amy Wokasien, Founder, Owner and Operations Manager
Though Amy comes from a family of “non-horse” people, she loved horses from an early age. When she was 10, she received a gift certificate for riding lessons, and from there the rest is history. In high school she had three horses, and was very active in the Ohio 4-H program. She worked at a YMCA horse camp during summer breaks from college. She rode competitively in college, and after graduation (B.A. Communication Arts, 1989), horses became a hobby while she started her own graphic arts business. Her love for horses was too strong to keep her behind a desk, and in 1999 she started Nothing Fancy Farm in her backyard, giving lessons to neighbor children and showing her horses in local hunter shows. Today, she is the owner and operations manager of NFF Stables, with over 80 horses in her care. She oversees the lesson program, show team, summer camp, and all aspects of running a busy stable. Amy is a board member of WBTA, and a member of the Maryland Horse Council.

Sandy Waterman, Owner and Business Manager
Sandy likes to joke that she learned to ride before she learned how to walk — and that may be true, as her mother successfully ran Rock Creek Stables for a number of years, and was DC of the Frederick Pony Club. Sandy was a very active Pony Club member up through high school. After attending college and entering the workforce, she realized she was missing something in her life and returned to riding after moving her horses to NFF. Today, she’s the co-owner of NFF, and handles everything behind the scenes. She’s also the proud of owner of 13 horses!

Jen Rogala, Head Instructor and Trainer
We’re so excited to have Jen on our team — her experience speaks for itself. She graduated from Penn State with a degree in Secondary Education in 2000. While at Penn State she rode on the equestrian team, and competed in intercollegiate Nationals. She competed throughout the country as a Junior, and in Amateur/Owner hunters. She qualified for Zone II finals at Harrisburg in A/O, and won classes over fences and was reserve champion!. She’s competed at Pennsylvania National Horse Show at Hunt Night with Green Spring Valley Hounds. Jen is in charge of our lesson program and our show team, and is the owner of two horses, Mickey and Potter.
